1. Promoter and scope
1.1 These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern prize competitions promoted on the website alphadraw.co.uk (the "Website") and related services operated by AlphaDraw Ltd ("AlphaDraw", "we", "us", "the Promoter").
1.2 AlphaDraw is the promoter of each competition unless a specific competition page states that a third-party promoter operates that draw. Each competition has a predetermined prize described on its competition page and in the competition rules at `/draws/[slug]/rules`.
1.3 The Promoter may run multiple competitions at the same time. Each competition is subject to these Terms and any competition-specific rules published on the Website.
1.4 Promoter contact details
- Legal name: AlphaDraw Ltd
- Correspondence address: Alpha Draw, Suite 6, 129 University Street, Belfast, BT7 1HP, United Kingdom
- Company number: Not yet registered
- Email: info@alphadraw.co.uk
- Website: https://alphadraw.co.uk
1.5 By entering any competition (whether by free route or paid route), you ("Entrant", "you", "your") confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and the applicable competition rules.
2. Definitions
- Competition — a prize draw listed on the Website with its own prize, ticket cap, price, and rules.
- Entry — a valid ticket in the draw pool, either a free postal entry or a paid entry.
- Closing Date — the moment the competition closes for entries (when the ticket cap is reached, or when the finalization period ends, or when we close the competition under these Terms).
- Maximum Entries / Ticket Cap — the maximum number of entries stated for a competition.
- Skill Question — the judgement-based question published for a competition; you must answer it correctly to receive a free postal entry.
- Free Postal Entry — one free entry issued after we verify a correct answer to the Skill Question on a valid postal submission, subject to section 5.
- Paid Entry — an entry purchased via the Website checkout.
- Finalization Period — a 48-hour period that may begin when a competition reaches its published capacity trigger (see section 8).
- Cash Alternative — a cash prize calculated from paid ticket revenue if the competition does not sell out (see section 9).
- Winner — the Entrant selected in accordance with section 10.
3. Eligibility
3.1 Competitions are open only to persons who, at the date of entry:
- are aged 18 years or over; and
- are resident in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland).
3.2 Competitions are not open to residents of the Republic of Ireland or any other country unless we expressly state otherwise on a competition page.
3.3 You must not enter if you are:
- an employee of AlphaDraw or any group company;
- an employee of our agents, suppliers, or contractors who are professionally connected with the competition or the Website; or
- an immediate family member or member of the same household as any person in (a) or (b).
3.4 We may require proof of age, identity, and UK residency at any time (including before paying a prize). Failure to provide satisfactory proof within a reasonable time may result in disqualification.
3.5 By entering, you confirm that you have legal capacity to enter and that entry does not breach any law applicable to you. We are not liable if you enter unlawfully from outside the UK.
3.6 We may refuse or disqualify any Entrant if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, provided false eligibility information, used a VPN or other means to circumvent UK restrictions, operated multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage, or acted fraudulently or contrary to the spirit of the competition.
3.7 Automated entries, bots, scripts, or incomplete entries are void. We do not accept entries generated by computer except through our official Website checkout.
4. How to enter — overview
Each competition offers two routes into the same draw pool:
Route A — Free postal entry Send a valid postcard or letter with your answer to the published Skill Question for that competition. If your answer is judged correct, you receive one Free Postal Entry, subject to section 5.
Route B — Paid entry (optional) Purchase one or more tickets via Stripe checkout. You do not need to use Route A to buy tickets.
Payment does not guarantee that you will win. All entries have the same chance weight in the draw (one entry = one chance), except where we state a weighted draw for Cash Alternative resolution (section 10).
5. Free entry skill question
5.1 Each competition publishes a Skill Question on its competition page and rules. The question requires judgement or knowledge (not pure chance). You must include your answer on your postal entry (section 6).
5.2 Our decision on whether an answer is correct is final. We may use independent adjudicators. Incorrect answers do not create an entry and do not charge your payment card.
5.3 You may receive a maximum of one Free Postal Entry per competition per person (one postcard or letter per competition unless we state otherwise).
5.4 Free postal entries do not require a Website account, but you must provide accurate contact details so we can issue your entry or contact you if you win.
5.5 If postal processing is delayed by post or our workload, we are not liable for entries received after the Closing Date; you may still use Route B where available.
6. Free entry route — postal (no purchase necessary)
6.1 You may enter a competition free of charge by post. Free postal entries are treated equally with paid entries in the same draw pool.
6.2 To enter by post, send one entry per competition per postcard or letter (bulk submissions count as one entry only) to:
Free entry postal address: Alpha Draw Suite 6 129 University Street Belfast BT7 1HP United Kingdom
6.3 Your postal entry must include:
- the competition name or slug (as shown on the Website);
- your full name;
- your date of birth;
- your UK postal address;
- a contact email address and telephone number;
- your answer to the Skill Question for that competition (as published on the Website);
- a statement that you accept these Terms and confirm UK residency and age 18+.
6.4 Postal entries must:
- bear valid UK postage (hand-delivered entries are not valid);
- be received before the competition closes for entries;
- not exceed any per-person entry cap stated on the competition page.
6.5 If the ticket cap is reached before your postal entry is processed, it will not be entered. We do not acknowledge receipt of postal entries and will not enter into correspondence about whether a postal entry was received or whether an answer was correct.
6.6 Postal entries are subject to the same eligibility, closing, draw, and winner rules as all other entries.
7. Paid entry route
7.1 Paid entries are sold in pounds sterling (GBP) via our payment partner Stripe on the Website. We do not accept cash. SMS or telephone payment is not offered unless we expressly add it and publish separate terms.
7.2 To complete a paid entry, you must:
- have a registered account with accurate contact details;
- pass UK eligibility checks;
- pay the stated ticket price and quantity;
- receive confirmation that your order was accepted and entries were issued.
7.3 You may purchase multiple tickets per competition unless a per-person cap is stated on the competition page. Creating multiple accounts to exceed caps or gain unfair advantage is prohibited and may void all related entries without refund.
7.4 Entries are final once payment is confirmed and tickets are issued. Tickets are non-refundable except as set out in section 14 or where required by law.
7.5 The usual requirement under consumer protection rules that goods/services ordered at a distance be supplied within 30 days does not apply to the right to participate in a prize competition. The prize, if you win, is subject to sections 9–11.
7.6 If payment is taken but entries cannot be issued due to our error, we will refund the payment or issue entries. If payment fails, no entry is created.
7.7 Pricing, ticket caps, and availability are at our discretion and are stated at the point of sale on the competition page.
8. Competition duration and finalization
8.1 Each competition runs until:
- the ticket cap is reached; and/or
- any Closing Date stated on the competition page; and/or
- we close or cancel the competition under these Terms.
8.2 We may close a competition early if the ticket cap is sold out before any advertised end date.
8.3 When the published capacity trigger is reached (as displayed on the competition page), the competition may enter a Finalization Period of 48 hours, during which further entries may still be accepted unless the competition is sold out or closed. Entrants will be notified by email where possible.
8.4 When the competition closes, we will conduct the draw in accordance with section 10 within a reasonable time, normally within 48 hours of closing, and publish the result on the Website and/or by email to the Winner.
8.5 Competition-specific dates and caps are shown on each competition page and in `/draws/[slug]/rules`. If there is a conflict, the competition page at the time of your entry prevails for that draw.
9. Prizes — advertised prize and cash alternative
9.1 The prize for each competition is described on the Website ("Advertised Prize"). Details are correct to the best of our knowledge at the time the competition opens.
9.2 If 100% of tickets are sold before the competition closes (including during any Finalization Period), the Advertised Prize will be awarded to the Winner selected under section 10, subject to verification.
9.3 If the competition closes without selling out, the Advertised Prize may not be awarded. Instead, a Cash Alternative may be paid to one Winner:
- The Cash Alternative is 70% to 80% of paid ticket revenue for that competition (the exact percentage is stated on the competition page, default 75%).
- Skill Win Entries and postal free entries do not count toward the Cash Alternative calculation.
- Only paid revenue from successful Stripe transactions counts.
- One Winner receives the Cash Alternative, selected by weighted random draw from all valid entries (each entry = one weight).
9.4 We make no warranty about the Advertised Prize beyond description on the Website. You are responsible for your own enquiries. The prize is as awarded at draw time; no cash or other alternatives are offered for the Advertised Prize unless we agree in writing.
9.5 Physical prizes must be collected or accepted delivery as we arrange. The Winner must provide proof of identity matching the account holder. Prizes cannot be collected by a third party on the Winner's behalf unless we agree in advance in writing.
9.6 Where a prize is supplied by a third party, their terms may apply. For holiday or travel prizes, minimum standards will be agreed with the Winner; we are not liable for cancellations by third parties beyond our control (see section 15).
9.7 The Winner is responsible for any tax, duty, or reporting obligations arising from a prize. We do not provide tax advice.
10. Selecting the winner
10.1 When a competition closes, all valid entries in the draw pool are included. Invalid, disqualified, or void entries are excluded.
10.2 For Advertised Prize resolution (sold out), the Winner is selected at random from all valid entries with equal weight (one entry, one chance).
10.3 For Cash Alternative resolution (not sold out), the Winner is selected by weighted random selection from all valid entries (each entry counts once).
10.4 The draw is conducted using a verifiable random process. We maintain an audit record of pool size and outcome. We may live-stream or publish a recording of the draw; method will be announced on the competition page or by email.
10.5 There is one Winner per competition unless we state otherwise on the competition page.
10.6 We will attempt to contact the Winner using the email address and contact details on the account within 7 days of the draw. The Winner must respond and complete verification within 7 days of our first successful contact attempt.
10.7 If the Winner cannot be contacted or verified, we may select an alternate Winner using the same method. The original Winner will have no claim after an alternate Winner is confirmed.
10.8 With the Winner's consent, we may publish the Winner's first name and town/county on the Website and social media. You may withhold consent, but this does not affect prize entitlement. See our Privacy Policy for lawful bases.
10.9 With consent, we may use photographs or testimonials of the Winner for marketing.
11. Contact details and communications
11.1 You must provide accurate email, name, and (where requested) UK postcode and telephone number. It is your responsibility to keep details up to date.
11.2 We are not responsible for failed contact due to inaccurate details, spam filters, or changed email addresses.
11.3 We use your data as described in our Privacy Policy, including to administer competitions, notify Winners, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
12. Privacy
Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy at `/legal/privacy` and applicable UK data protection law (UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018).
13. Entries and intellectual property
13.1 All valid entries submitted become part of the draw pool for the relevant competition only.
13.2 Skill submissions and related data may be retained for audit and dispute resolution as stated in the Privacy Policy.
14. Cancellation and refunds
14.1 We may cancel a competition before or after entries are sold if we reasonably consider it necessary (including error, fraud, or force majeure). If we cancel after you have paid, we will refund eligible paid entry fees to the original payment method where practicable, or offer account credit if refund is not possible.
14.2 Free postal entries do not attract refunds.
14.3 We do not refund paid entries because you did not win, were ineligible and failed to declare it, submitted an incorrect Skill Question answer by post, or changed your mind, except where required by law.
14.4 Refunds for entries submitted after the Closing Date, or where we cancel, are at our discretion or as required by law.
15. Limitation of liability
15.1 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
15.2 Subject to 15.1, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or failure to enjoy the Website. Our total liability to you for any competition is limited to the amount you paid us for entries in that competition in the 12 months before the claim.
15.3 We are not liable for entries not received due to technical failure, high traffic, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
15.4 We are not liable for third-party travel, accommodation, or supplier cancellations; the third party's remedies apply where applicable.
16. Fraud and fair play
16.1 An entry is void if you engage in fraud, misrepresentation, hacking, tampering with the Website, multiple accounts to breach caps, or circumvention of UK eligibility controls.
16.2 We cooperate with authorities on fraud, money laundering, and crime prevention. We may suspend accounts pending investigation.
17. Anti–money laundering
17.1 We take steps to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, including verifying identity for significant wins or unusual payment patterns, maintaining account records, and reporting suspicions to authorities where required.
17.2 We do not accept cash payments. Winnings are paid to verified account holders by agreed methods. We may pay winnings back to the same route as the original payment where possible.
17.3 One account per person. False registration information may lead to closure and forfeiture of entries.
18. Changes to these Terms
18.1 We may amend these Terms at any time. The current version is published at `/legal/terms` with a version number and date.
18.2 Material changes may require you to re-accept Terms on login or before checkout. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
19. Governing law and disputes
19.1 These Terms and each competition are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
19.2 The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws give you rights in your UK jurisdiction.
19.3 Our decision on eligibility, skill outcomes, draws, and prizes is final. We will not enter into correspondence debating the result beyond our published complaints process: info@alphadraw.co.uk.
20. Complaints and responsible participation
20.1 For complaints, contact info@alphadraw.co.uk with your account email and competition reference.
20.2 Competitions are for entertainment. Please play responsibly. You must be 18+. If you need support with gambling-related harm, contact BeGambleAware.org or the National Gambling Helpline.
